How do I start the process?

First, I’ll need a good understanding of the scope of your project. For fiction and non-fiction, a sample edit will be required for new clients. This will give me a chance to evaluate the needs of the manuscript and provide you with a sample of my work.

For technical writing projects, you can send me a sample of your files, and I can give you a quote.

What if my documents can’t physically leave the site?

If a Word document (.docx) or PDF is unavailable, I can work with a scan of the original document. Even a picture file such as a .jpg can be reformatted or transcribed into a Word document.

What if my project needs multiple revisions?

Whether or not your fiction or non-fiction project requires multiple revisions depends on the state of your manuscript. A fiction manuscript may only require a copy edit if you are happy with your voice, tone, and pacing. A non-fiction manuscript often requires a developmental or substantive edit.

Every technical writing project goes through a process of creation, revision, and review before it is ready to be published. Sometimes there are multiple phases. I can work with your team to ensure they can keep creating while the revision of the previous phase is under way.

Will you create content for me?

Yes, to a degree. I can only write what you tell me to write. Most of the content creation process for technical writing is the result of team collaboration and interviews with an SME (Subject Matter Expert). As long as there is sufficient supporting documentation, I can condense or expand the text depending on your wishes.

Do you work outside of Edmonton?

Of course!

If your project requires me to visit a site outside the Edmonton area, all travel and expenses will be accounted for and billed accordingly.
